Who Needs Hard Drives? Scientists Store Film Clip in DNA

The New York Times | By GINA KOLATA

In a first, researchers converted a movie into a DNA sequence and inserted it into bacteria. They hope to someday use the technology to record cell behavior....

The article references how scientists have translated many documents into DNA, including Shakespeare. But DNA messages could also be encoded into living things, as proved here with bacteria. Indeed, scientists have added DNA to many simple and complex life forms.

So it's not a stretch to imagine scientists using DNA to store data, and DNA computers are a hot research area.

But what if we discovered a message hidden within the DNA in our own human cells? A long ago communication from our creator, hidden until we were ready to find it. What would it say?
